Special Projects and Events Intern - Fall 2018

Reports To: Special Projects Manager

Overview: The Special Projects intern will help DoSomething.org mobilize hundreds of young people by assisting in the execution of our events and special projects.

This intern will be required to work 12 hours per week from September 10-December 14. This position is paid $13/hour.

What you'll do:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of our annual Summit
  • Assist in the planning and execution of our Social Impact Bootcamps
  • Assist with communication between vendors venue and attendees
  • Help create programming for different DoSomething.org events
  • Create communication timelines and strategies for all external conversations
  • Work with members from our marketing, creative, campaigns, and tech team to ensure successful events
  • Manage budgets and keep projects under budget
  • Keep track of timeline deliverables to keep projects on track
  • Assist in preparation for DoSomething.org’s quarterly Board Meeting
  • Book travel for talent and staff when needed

What you'll learn:

What we're looking for:

  • SUPER organized and detail oriented (you’ve already noticed the error made in the “What you’ll do” section)
  • You love all things event planning. Timelines and spreadsheets make you excited, spreadsheets are your weak spot, etc.
  • Self-starter, ability to work well alone or with others
  • Excellent communication skills: solid grammar, ability to convey messages clearly, good telephone manner
  • You love asking for people to donate items and feel invigorated every time you are able to haggle a price down
  • Experience in project management
  • Not required, but a plus -- you know all of the choreography to Beyonce’s Formation
