Fall 2018 - Operations & Culture Intern

Reports to: Finance & Operations Manager or Talent and Culture Manager

Overview:  The Operations & Culture Intern is part of the finance team. The office has a fun, fast-paced, and quirky culture, all made possible by the members of our finance and operations team. If you are thinking of career in not-for-profit operations, this internship will give you the hands-on experience required in this highly demanded and specialized field. Your work will be all about cultivating this culture for our staff and interns, and helping to share it with the world. You will have a hand in everything from internal events and operations to hiring and benefits administration.

This intern will be required to work 12 hours per week from September 10-December 14. The pay rate for this internship is $13/hour.

What you’ll do:

  • All things operations & culture at DoSomething! This includes:
  • Assist with coordinating interviews for our open jobs
  • Act as the go-to person for the rest of your intern class
  • Plan and execute events for your intern class & the larger staff, including our annual Holiday Party
  • Put together our weekly internal newsletter, The Tissue Issue, to keep staff up to date on the amazing work we do and upcoming office events
  • Provide assistance with general bookkeeping duties
  • Provide assistance with Office Management
  • Assist with coordinating Staff Travel
  • Office administration & finance team support as needed

  • How to manage an office of 60+ staff members like a pro!

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Passion for making people happy, productive, and motivated to do their best
  • A fascination with office culture, people operations, office management, and organizational communication
  • Strong research skills and attention to detail
  • Incredible detail & organization skills. You can orchestrate a party, coordinate multiple travel requests, and check-in to see how other people are feeling all at the same time.
  • Someone who brings equal parts “gut-check” and “data-informed” when making a decision
  • Outgoing and enthusiastic personality
  • Self-starter, ability to work well with others or independently
  • Knowledge of Quickbooks and Excel (not required, but a plus!)
  • A perfectionist. No beating around the bush here.
