Photo/Video Intern - Fall 2017

Reports to: Creative Director

Overview: The Photo/Video Intern will have the best internship currently available at DoSomething (and quite possibly, in the whole city).  We are looking for someone not only to help us create amazing video content, but to also help reflect our brand, campaigns, and culture via video. Most importantly, assist in telling the amazing stories of DoSomething.org members and the impact they are making on the world.

This intern will be required to work 12 hours per week from September 11-December 14. This position is paid $11/hour.

What you'll do:

  • Help shoot in house and in the field photo and video content.
  • When applicable, be on set for photo shoots to assist in set-up, shooting, and tear down.
  • Edit video content for different social platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Instagram Stories, Snapchat, etc
  • Edit photos in Photoshop Camera Raw/Lightroom
  • Edit video footage in Adobe Premiere and After Effects
  • Record voice overs for radio ads and/or videos in Adobe Audition
  • Keep track of analytics for video performance on social channels
  • Attend brainstorm meetings for both sponsored and unsponsored campaigns

What you'll learn:

  • How to set up and take down sets
  • How to cast talent for videos
  • How to use DSLR cameras and basic camera skills
  • How to work in an office environment with multiple people and teams
  • How to distribute video to marketing partners
  • How to tell stories of our members through video
  • Have the opportunity to work with brands like ESPN, Johnson & Johnson, truth, 3M, Takis, Ganier and more!
  • Have the opportunity to have your work featured by our partners like Teen Vogue, iHeartMedia, tumblr, Channel One News, etc

What we're looking for:

  • Photo and Video Skills
  • Production (shooting) and Post Production (editing) experience
  • Audio experience, and editing experience with Adobe Audition or other audio software
  • Editing Skills (Proficient in Adobe Premier a plus).
  • An understanding of social media platforms
  • People skills (the ability to interview someone) and a sense of humor.
  • Flexibility and the ability to pivot quickly
  • Be proficient at using a DSLR (we use Canon 5D Mark III)
  • Have good knowledge of narrative, pacing, use of audio, etc.
  • Knowledge of lighting setups a plus
