Graphic Design Intern - Spring 2018

Reports to: Visual Designer

Overview: This Jack/Jill/Jx of all trades is a part of the Creative team. They will create energetic and badass graphic assets for web (and sometimes print), bring new ideas to the team, and always act as a brand defender, and keeper of a consistent visual design language. We’re looking for that Siracha to our Mayo.

What you'll do:

  • Graphic Design: create purposeful beautiful graphic/web design work that drives the brand
  • Marketing Assets: create ads that will help stand out on external websites
  • Pitch decks: create emotionally compelling presentations that help us land big sponsors
  • Social Media: design assets like sharable graphics, sourced photos, banners, twitter backgrounds, tumblr images, etc. Super plus if you’re on top of new social media platforms that are popping up all the time
  • Challenge us: show us how to visually improve graphic assets through hierarchy, fonts, and photography


What you'll learn

  • Improve and refine your graphic design skills while flexing your UI/UX muscles
  • Great portfolio pieces that you’ll be proud of
  • Develop your design perspective and voice (ie, learn how not to start a sentence with “I like…”,
  • How to work in an office environment amongst many different types of people and teams
  • The joy of having your work featured on multiple marketing platforms


What we're looking for

  • Attention to detail: you notice the little things, like weird spacing, colors that don’t match, and typos
  • Collaborative thinker: you give useful feedback and are receptive to others helping to make your work better.
  • Design skills: you can use design programs (especially Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and are eager to teach yourself new tools. Understand how to send documents to print, how to optimize for the web and stay organized. You also obsessively read blogs about fonts, icons, color theory, hierarchy, UI/UX, art and photography.
  • Let Your Freak Flag Fly: Love minimalism? Graffiti? Museums? Hip Hop? Robots? Donuts? We want the funky and weird to shine through in your work.
