What you'll do:

You will be part of a small but mighty new-business team responsible for prospecting, pitching, and closing new business. In this "hunter" role you will actively pursue new business opportunities. You will be accountable for lead generation and revenue growth by way of 1) New Business Development and 2) Business Development Planning.

For New Business Development, the Manager is responsible for prospecting for new clients by:

  • Networking, cold outreach, or other means of generating interest from potential clients and the decision makers within the client organization
  • Meeting potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging existing networks, and building/maintaining relationships with the new clients
  • Planning persuasive approaches and pitches that will show potential clients how powerful it is to work with TMI
  • Proposal development and pricing

For Business Development Planning, the Business Development Manager will:

  • Work with the Senior Director, Growth & Marketing for strategic planning to develop the pipeline of new business.
  • Strategize around current and future target markets
  • Determine solutions & services TMI can provide to these prospects 
  • Complete competitor analyses

Additional responsibilities:

  • Attending industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and arranging key meetings at such functions
  • Identifying opportunities for services and products that will lead to an increase in sales


The perfect person for this role is:

  • Ready and willing to roll up their sleeves and build something BIG at TMI
  • An experienced communicator with proven track record of executive outreach
  • Entrepreneurial with history of building partnerships from scratch
  • Equipped with a strong and proven background (4-6 years) in business development and exceeding sales targets, ideally in marketing or professional services
  • Able to navigate uncertainty and gray-area successfully for all parties, leading to desired outcomes
  • A team player who values collaboration and works well internally
  • Not required, but ideally this candidate also has an existing network of contacts that would augment the agency’s targeting strategy
  • Someone who absolutely LOVES TMI—is fully bought into our mission and naturally puts TMI and the team first
