Digital Engagement Associate

Reports to: Director of Mobile Messaging

The Digital Engagement Associate is an entry-level position responsible for managing content strategy implementation in DoSomething's digital engagement channels including email, SMS, and new, experimental platforms.

What you’ll do:

  • SMS + Email Configuration
    • Harness our SMS technology platform to build, test, and QA all of our interactive SMS experiences
    • Own the setup, QA, and sending of our weekly member emails, scholarship emails, etc, with consistent copy and brand
    • Collaborate with Director of Mobile Messaging to create content for A/B tests for weekly SMS broadcasts to our members
    • Launch new A/B tests, analyze results, and identify actionable opportunities and best practices to improve broadcast performance
    • Work with our Data team to improve visualization of messaging data
    • Maintain the systems we use (Customer.io, Contentful, and Front) to ensure that these systems are efficient and easy to use
  • Member Support
    • Communicate with our members via SMS and Zendesk every day to help them maximize their impact
    • Craft responses that help our members complete campaigns, and ensure our response time is consistently under 24 hours, week-to-week
    • Share user learnings across departments to improve our content and user experience
    • Advocate and be the voice of our members, providing internal feedback on how DoSomething can better serve them
  • Bug Tracking
    • Investigate issues raised through SMS and email support and track until they are resolved
    • Communicate status of issues and deliverables needed to resolve

What we're looking for:

  • Must haves:
    • Copywriting and proofreading skills
    • High emotional intelligence
    • Strong communication skills and attention to detail to to coordinate effectively across multiple departments
    • Ability and enthusiasm to learn new technologies
    • A passion for continuously improving the member experience
  • Nice-to-haves:
    • Experience in digital communications (writing for the web, social media, content strategy, etc.) – internships count!
    • Experience managing community a major plus
    • Bonus points for experience with compliance for CAN-SPAM and CTIA
